When 29-year-old Mandy Harvey stepped onto the America’s Got Talent stage barefoot, holding a ukulele alongside a sign language interpreter, no one in the auditorium expected the deeply moving moment that was about to take place.
Mandy revealed that she lost her hearing entirely at age 19 due to a connective tissue disorder that caused nerve deterioration. At the time, she was a music major in college and believed her lifelong passion for singing was over forever. For a long time, she gave up on music completely.
