The X Factor UK Audition: “Pretty Boy Karma” Twin Duo Fails to Impress Judges

19-year-old twins Achilles and Philip, performing under the name Pretty Boy Karma, faced a unanimous rejection from The X Factor UK judges during Season 14.

Twin brothers Achilles and Philip introduced their duo, Pretty Boy Karma. Originally from Athens and having moved to London five years prior, the 19-year-olds shared their ambitious plans to launch a music career, clothing line, and underwear brand.

Before singing, the duo openly referenced their resemblance to Justin Bieber, noting that many of their social media followers compare them to the pop star.

When taking the stage in front of judges Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger, and Louis Walsh, Simon asked if they were planning to perform a Justin Bieber song. The twins confirmed they would perform Justin Bieber’s hit track “Boyfriend.”

The Performance and Feedback

During the performance, the twins combined vocals with energetic dance moves and body-flashing choreography. However, the judges were largely unimpressed with the vocal delivery:

  • Louis Walsh described the audition as “dreadful,” comparing them unfavorably to former contestant duo Jedward.

  • Sharon Osbourne noted that looking like Justin Bieber was not enough, pointing out that their singing was “not great” and asking if they had ever taken vocal lessons.

  • Simon Cowell advised them to focus on getting their vocal abilities right before focusing on merchandise and clothing lines, remarking that the performance was “literally a nightmare.”

  • Nicole Scherzinger expressed that the duo needed significantly more experience before competing at this level.

The Verdict

The panel delivered a unanimous four “No” votes, ending Pretty Boy Karma’s run on The X Factor UK. Despite the harsh feedback, the duo maintained a positive outlook, stating they would continue working on their craft and return in the future.
