When 21-year-old Rozelle Phillip walked onto The X Factor stage, her bright smile and warm Caribbean accent instantly lit up the arena. But behind her bubbly personality was a story of sacrifice that brought a lump to everyone’s throat.
Leaving behind her home in Trinidad and Tobago, Rozelle moved to the UK for one reason: to chase a dream her grandmother gave everything to support. Knowing how badly Rozelle wanted to sing on the world’s biggest stage, her beloved grandmother made the heartbreaking decision to send her granddaughter across the Atlantic alone.
Standing before the panel, Rozelle fought back tears as she declared: “Today I’m going to do it for her and for myself.”
