Despite being very scared, he showed clear ambition, telling the judges that if he won the prize money, he would use it to travel to Disneyland in America and set aside funds for future albums.
His goal to invest in his own future, at such a young age, immediately charmed the judges, who encouraged him to conquer his fear and go for it.
For his performance, Dylan chose to sing the incredibly challenging and iconic song “Listen” by Beyoncé. It was a massive choice for a young boy, but the moment he began, the theatre was stunned by his unexpectedly mature voice. Dylan demonstrated a flawless technique and an impressive vocal tone that were far beyond his years. He sang with confidence and control, delivering the emotional power of the song perfectly. The sheer scale of his talent completely transformed his image from a shy boy into a powerful vocal force.
The judges were left “gobsmacked” by the quality of his voice. Alesha Dixon praised not only his incredible tone but also his “off the scale” technique for a 12-year-old. Amanda Holden described him as a “gorgeous, unassuming, humble person” who “completely knocked it out of the park,” calling his performance “flawless.” Simon Cowell, though noting the difficulty of the iconic song, respected Dylan’s confidence and ambition. Recognizing his undeniable talent and potential, Dylan easily secured a unanimous four “yeses,” allowing him to continue his journey toward future albums and Disneyland.
