With “Somebody Believed” Austin Brown, a former member of a successful country a cappella group, returned to the America’s Got Talent (AGT) stage just three days after his first audition ended in disappointment. Austin confessed he was “heartbroken” after the initial performance, admitting he had tried to sing what he thought the judges wanted instead of “just being myself.” He was determined not to go back home to Nashville wishing he had fought harder for his solo dream, stating there was “no way in hell” he would ever get on a plane back without a successful second attempt.
The judges, especially Simon Cowell, were surprised to see him back so quickly, as they had suggested he return in a year. This immediate return, however, convinced them of his sincere dedication. For his pivotal second chance, Austin performed an original song he wrote himself called “Somebody Believed.” The track was an emotionally powerful anthem directly inspired by his own struggle, talking about the effort required to make a dream a reality. He sang, “No man ever moved until somebody moved it,” highlighting the courage needed to take a leap of faith.
